This paper argues that the contemporary grounding debate has not resolved its central difficulty: any chain of grounds terminating in a fundamental being either generates an infinite regress or posits an unexplained primitive. An alternative ontological model is proposed in which the regress is closed not through a fundamental level of beings but through a structurally necessary configuration: Nothing → Selfhood → Information → Primary Distinction → Act of Selfhood → Change.

Keywords: grounding, metaphysical explanation, regress, distinction, Nothing, conditions of consistency, information, metaphysics.
